Hello, I am Ash Demian
I am a portrait photographer based in New Braunfels, TX. I see the photo as poetry that has a lot of stories.
I have done many genres of photography, portrait, fashion, beauty, glamour, pinup, and landscape. More details are shown under the Gallery Tab. Just type your email and you will see all my work.
Who is Ash?
I was born in Egypt. I loved learning mathematics and languages. Additionally, I loved traveling. I also loved to learn about different cultures. My love of languages led me to travel to many countries, such as Turkey, Russia, Germany, England, France, South Africa, and Mexico. I speak Arabic, French, and a little bit of Russian. Traveling to several countries developed my skills in photographing landscapes.
Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.– Helen Keller
Photography Journey
I owned my first camera, Kodak Star 110, when I was 10. I like it because it has a built-in flash. When I was 12, my uncle gave me a Zorky 4 35mm, a Russian camera. I liked this camera because I started to learn how to shoot manual photos.
In 2001 when I traveled to Turkey, I purchased my third camera, Minolta 35mm film. I used this camera to photograph landscapes in Turkey and Russia.
In 2014 I traveled to South Africa. I needed a professional camera to capture the incredible nature there. I used Nikon D3300, followed by Nikon D3400. With that camera, I started my journey of portraiture.
I currently use Nikon Z6ii and Nikon D750, along with several prime and zoom lenses.
The pandemic period allowed me to develop my editing skills using lightroom and photoshop.

Academic Journey
I believe that education builds one's identity. In 1996, I earned my first bachelor's degree in computer science. In 2013 I returned and earned my second Bachelor's degree in Mathematics in 2017, followed by my master's degree in mathematics in 2019 and my Ph.D. degree in mathematics education in 2023.
Thus, I am a mathematician who sees a strong relationship between mathematics and the art of photography.

Teaching Mathematics
Seeing the smile on my students' faces is invaluable and needed to be captured. I always end each semester by a final review where we celebrate together and enjoy food and photos. Mathematics is challenging to many students especially at the basic level. The success of my students is my absolute success.
Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.– Benjamin Franklin
